Amy Bowen, RN
Director of Nursing
Amy brings over a decade of experience in critical care and rehabilitation nursing to her role as Director of Nursing at Carenbe. Formerly a nurse educator at Shepherd Center, Amy is passionate about fostering supportive, high-performing teams that deliver exceptional patient care. Outside of work, she enjoys cheering on her youngest daughter at cross country and track meets, watching movies, and taking on home improvement projects.
Anna Elmers, JD, MD
Chief executive officer, chief medical officer and founder of Carenbe
Dr. Anna Elmers, JD, MD, is a board-certified physiatrist specializing in spinal cord and brain injury medicine. With a background in both medicine and law, she brings a unique perspective to healthcare leadership and patient advocacy. As Founder and CEO of Carenbe, she combines her extensive clinical expertise with a passion for improving quality of life through compassionate, person-centered care. Outside of her professional roles, Dr. Elmers enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and supporting causes that promote recovery, independence, and community inclusion.
Cecilia Rider
Operations Director
Cecilia brings decades of hands-on experience in direct patient care and healthcare operations. Before joining Carenbe, she spent over 20 years in physical medicine and rehabilitation helping individuals with spinal cord and brain injuries regain independence and confidence. She’s passionate about person-centered care and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes so caregivers and clients can thrive. In her free time, Cecilia enjoys staying active, spending time with family, and exploring new places through travel and missions work.
Esmeralda Figueroa

Esmeralda is passionate about helping families navigate the Medicaid waiver process with understanding and care. Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, she ensures that every client feels comfortable and supported as they move through each step of enrollment. Outside of work, Esmeralda enjoys sharing her love of culture and movement through folklórico dance with Ballet Raíces del Folklore.
Mayra Mendoza

Mayra is the friendly voice many of our clients first meet when they reach out to Carenbe. With a background in HR and healthcare administration, she brings strong organizational skills and a genuine passion for helping others navigate the intake process with ease and care. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Mayra ensures that every family feels heard and supported from the very first conversation. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and staying active in her community.

With years of experience in administration and customer service, she’s known for her kindness, reliability, and attention to detail.
